Team Cyclops hacks Nintendo DSi using the CycloDS Evolution

With the recent release of the DSi there has seen a great deal of discussion and speculation. The official word from Team Cyclops is that The DSi is NOT compatible with CycloDS Evolution or ANY other similar device.

However, a recent video now demonstrates that for some time they have had a working test setup that is capable of running CycloDS Evolution on the Nintendo DSi.

“We must stress however that this is part of our research only; there is still a great deal of work to be done before we can even decide if a DSi compatible device is viable or not.”

It is only of matter of time! Check out the video and see what we can expect in the near future.

Note: The CycloDS Evolution is currently not compatible with the Nintendo DSi

  2. 2 Patch or new flash card? Apr 6th, 2009 at 7:01 pm

So, when the cylcods does become compatible with the DSi, will it be in the form of a new patch or an entirely new flash card?

  3. 3 J.J. Apr 7th, 2009 at 12:17 am

According to the CycloDS Team, it will be a new flash card. They have kept the details underwraps and nobody really knows when it will be released.

I have several flash cards for the DS and the CycloDS Evolution is by far the best!! I look forward to a version for my DSI.

    HMMM…. This kinda sucks. I can’t get a new card… I’m kinda disappointed. :’(

JJ, how did you find out it will be a new flash card? Do you have any evidence to back up this claim?

When the Sheriff of Naughtingham sees fit to release new hardware in an obvious plot to thwart the efforts of Robbin Hood and his band of merry gamers, it’s only logical that Robbin hood will riposte with new hardware, and likely, turn the Sheriff’s plot against him.

In otherwords, Nintendo offering finantial insentives to get thier DS customers back, useing a capitalistic plot to invaladate the present flash carts, with the promise of new gimmicks! Yay! \o/ .. and… No wait, this is lame. In fact, it’s such a week plot, it’s hard to even consider it a plot.. … Well regardless, We’ll have to buy new slot 1 devices to bypass the stupidity and limitations of the new slot(s) they will go in?

    How did this happen?
I can just see the Nintendo meeting now..
I picture it somthing to the effect of this,

:Note product names have been changed to protect the guilty.:

BigCorp: “Um, yeah, they hacked our Ipod to be a full blown personal PC!, ok, so um, we are not making any money off that, so uh, lets, try IpodI It’s just like Ipod! only. um, your old hacks wont work! in fact, we removed a few features so you couldn’t do as much! maybe that’ll keep ya from hacking it! Wait.. Why would you buy that? Humm, you know what, maybe we’ll just give people a rebate for ditching their old awesome one, and not tell them how much we limited this new one! That might work, humm. Maybe we should throw in a camera too? it works to sell Cell phones right!? Ok Ship It!”

Simply put, the new DSi, is designed to thwart the slot 1, and 2 flash carts. I also heard GBA carts of any sort wont work on it. Either way, if we want to mess around with yet another product ending in (i) by Nintendo, it’ll require all new hardware. Yay Cooperate War! My sword is lend to the might of CycloDS <3 and more importantly, the empowerment of gamers! DS-PDA users unite!

It’d be nice if DSi played old GBC or GB games wouldn’t it? You can emulate them on everything else, but have a rough time of it on DS.. I actually liked GB Tetris, and Mario land! Mario land was actually Fun for me! OMG Metroid II *Scream!* *Dives into the basement to save Samus from armies of Alpha and Omega Metroids!

This was fun to write! and silly! I hope some one enjoys reading it! *^u^*

    See You Next Mission!

Sorry what i meant to say was do you still recommend getting a DSi even though the CycloDS Evolution is not DSi compatible?

  11. 11 J.J. May 27th, 2009 at 10:23 pm

    Hey Random Dude,

Haven’t updated this site for some time. Trying to sort out a major stock issue and in the process of getting a new supplier.

Anyways, There are not that many games for the DSi at the moment, however if you are thinking of getting a DSi and would like a card that supports it, we are currently selling the DSTTi at the mo. It’s a simple card with less features than the Cyclo DS, but it works like a charm. Haven’t hand any complaints yet :)

    Check out http://www.DSTT-Card.com

    All the best.

  12. 12 random dude May 29th, 2009 at 9:47 pm

so other than the dstti, what do you recommend that may heve cyclods evo quality and is dsi compatible.

  13. 13 random dude May 30th, 2009 at 4:56 am

ok, i just read a thread on munroe world forums, and it said that TC is currently TRYING! to make a dsi compatible evo, but it made me wonder if it will still be some-what gba rom compatible and if its compatible with dsi only games?

  14. 14 Someone Jun 21st, 2009 at 6:52 am

Does this only mean it won’t support DSi games. I’m still using the original DS and it is pretty scratched up so i was going to buy a DSi. Will i still be able to stick my cycloDS in there and play DS games?

  15. 15 J.J. Jun 22nd, 2009 at 12:27 pm

CycloDS does not support DSI Games
